PLAY The Waiwera Thermal Spa Resort is the perfect place to soothe tired muscles after a long day of following the Matakana wine trail. A 20-minute drive from Matakana but well worth the trip. SLEEP Pack the tent, the trangia stove and the thermal underwear and head to Tawharanui Regional Park for a camping weekend. The park borders on beautiful beaches and there is plenty of open space for pitching tents.
